Cradles
Cradles provide a suspended, protected working platform – but to ensure complete safety, they must be regularly inspected, tested and certified.
Manual cradles – manual cradles are used for applications less than 15m high. They can be suspended from any type of suspension rig including BMUs, jibs, gantries and permanent rails.
Powered cradles – powered cradles have the same use as manual cradles but can be powered by either two winches from within the cradle or by one winch mounted on the BMU at roof level.
All cradles should have twin suspension ropes: two main ropes and two safety ropes. The SWL generally varies between 180kg and 300kg depending on the age and design of the equipment.
Also available are cradles designed for one man as standard and in some circumstances for three or four operatives.
