Latchways fall protection systems

Latchways ManSafe fall protection and access solutions are trusted around the world to ensure workers’ safety on buildings, towers, bridges and other structures.

Horizontal Mansafe

Fall restraint and fall arrest systems are completely different entities.

Horizontal mansafe

In essence, a fall restraint system prevents workers from reaching a hazard, while a fall arrest system allows workers to reach a hazard and then protects them if they should fall.

Fall Arrest

A fall arrest system provides maximum freedom of movement for workers to conduct their duties. In doing so it allows them to reach the point where a fall could occur, such as the edge of a roof for gutter maintenance. However, in the event of a fall, the fall will be arrested and so allow the person to either effect a self-rescue or be rescued.

Fall Restraint

These systems allow a person access to conduct their duties but prevent them from reaching a point where a fall could occur.

Restraint systems are generally suitable if the person needs to work at the edge of a hazard. For example, where there is a need to maintain gutters along the edge of a roof, or if there are other potential fall hazards such as a fragile roof, roof lights or air vents.

If fitting a fall restraint system, it is recommended that the system should be tested to fall arrest loads to ensure a person’s safety in situations where the system may be misused (i.e. when the person using it wears an over-length lanyard to enable access to the edge of a roof).

Restraint systems are generally positioned more than 2m from the hazard. This is because common practice is for the worker to be connected to the system by a fixed length 1.5m lanyard.

Vertical Mansafe

LadderLatch

Latchways’ ManSafe for Ladders system provides outstanding personal safety for individuals working on any type of fixed ladder.

Ladderlatch

Such is the simplicity of the design concept that the ManSafe for Ladders system can be installed to follow the contours of the structure and so maximise its safety value in a working environment. Equally, the proven effectiveness of the LadderLatch unit provides workers with the security of being constantly attached to the system whilst also having both hands free for climbing. If a worker should fall from the system, the LadderLatch immediately locks onto the system cable and arrests the fall.

In the event of a fall, a worker attached to a ManSafe for Ladders system is far less likely to be injured during the fall arrest process compared to a fall from a traditional hoop system. Whereas hoop systems prevent a worker falling backwards off a ladder, the hoops themselves present a significant threat if the worker should fall down a ladder.

  • Can be fitted to follow the contours of the structure.
  • Suitable for retrofitting or as part of a new build.
  • The whole system is unobtrusive and lightweight.
  • Operation is not affected by snow, ice or adverse weather conditions.
  • Can be installed for use in virtually all environments.
  • Can be integrated into a comprehensive system incorporating vertical, inclined and horizontal sections.
  • Will support up to four workers on a single line.
  • LadderLatch unit rotates freely through the intermediate cable guides to give the user continuous hands-free protection.
  • In the event of a fall, the LadderLatch unit locks onto the cable and arrests the fall.
  • Energy absorbers built into the system protect the end anchors from excessive loads should a fall from the system occur.
  • The LadderLatch unit can be attached or detached at any point in the system.
  • ManSafe for Ladders is easy to install and maintain.
  • Comprehensive range of specialist components to enable installation on a wide variety of towers.
  • Meets all appropriate international standards.
